Dr Faiz Noore is an Australian trained Specialist Pain Medicine Physician and Consultant Psychiatrist.

Dr Noore trained in Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry, the psychiatric subspecialty concerned mental health problems among people with complex medical & surgical problems, at Westmead Hospital, Sydney and St Mary’s Hospital, London. He has also completed additional training in psychodynamic psychotherapy and obtained a Master of Medicine Degree in the psychotherapy of people with personality difficulties.

After completing his psychiatric training, Dr Noore worked at Nepean Hospital as a Consultation-Liaison Psychiatrist. He became a member of the Nepean Hospital Pain Service and was admitted to the Fellowship of the Faculty of Pain Medicine, Australian & New Zealand College of Anaesthetists in 2001. Dr Noore has recently updated his pain management knowledge and skills by completing a Master of Medicine Degree in pain management.

Dr Noore has a passion for teaching and has successfully trained doctors who wish to become specialists in Psychiatry or in Pain Medicine. Dr Noore has held the position of Supervisor, of all the Supervisors of Training for the Faculty of Pain Medicine for many years. He has also been involved in the creation and roll out of the new 2015 curriculum for the training of Pain Specialists in Australia & New Zealand.

Treatment Modalities Used by Dr Noore

Rational Medication Prescribing – Dr Noore works collaboratively with his patients to help them slowly come off opioid medication.  He does not prescribe strong opioid analgesics for patients until he has completed a careful evaluation and worked through the risks and benefits of opioid prescribing with his patients. This process requires a minimum of three consultations.

  • Buprenorphine SL therapy for chronic pain patient who have become opioid dependent as a result of chronic opioid therapy
